About Contact Moçambique and the project context

The vacancy is published by Contact Moçambique, a recruitment firm, representing a client — an international company in the engineering and specialized consulting sector, with a strong presence in strategic environmental and maritime projects. The role's base is Afungi, Cabo Delgado, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project perimeter structuring operations on the ground.

The selected candidate will join the Project Manager's team in a maritime and engineering context: vehicles, vessels, port authorities, subcontractors, and client teams. Familiarity with the Afungi environment and LNG project operations in Cabo Delgado province is valued.

Who we are looking for

Are you looking for a project coordination role where reports, schedules, and multi-front communication define the day-to-day? This position is for someone who can align internal teams, subcontractors, vessel crews, and client representatives in a common effort, and who knows how to escalate issues with practical solutions rather than alarmism.

It is a role for those who enjoy working in a demanding operational environment, with autonomy and ownership over delivery, and who feel comfortable between the field, vessels, and the meeting room. Communication in English and Portuguese is part of the daily routine — not a formality.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in the daily planning, coordination, and delivery of project activities;
• Assist in the mobilization and demobilization of personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors;
• Keep schedules, milestones, resource plans, progress indicators, and payment-linked deliverables updated in Microsoft Project;
• Monitor activities against the project plan, identify delays or deviations in a timely manner, and escalate issues with proposed practical solutions;
• Coordinate project meetings: prepare agendas, take minutes, track agreed actions, and support communication between internal teams, subcontractors, and the client;
• Support the preparation, review, and consolidation of daily progress reports, weekly updates, KPI reports, field reports, preliminary execution reports, and final project reports;
• Support HSE and operational compliance processes: inductions, onboarding documentation, site activity execution plans, task hazard and environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and associated records;
• Liaise with project personnel, vessel crews, port authorities, subcontractors, client representatives, and other relevant stakeholders;
• Support the operational coordination of vessels and maritime activity, including notifications, approvals, and operational readiness requirements;
• Monitor the quality and completeness of operational and technical deliverables, verifying that field data and media records are accurate, stored, and available prior to demobilization;
• Participate in daily operational briefings and regular meetings with the client and subcontractors;
• Conduct sensitive or difficult conversations professionally, safeguard client relationships, and communicate clearly at all organizational levels;
• Perform other coordination and administrative duties required for project delivery.

Work mode and pace

Full-time, on-site, based in Afungi (Cabo Delgado). The role is field-based and operational support focused: the schedule spans the site, vessels, subcontractors, and client, with daily reporting and regular meetings.

What we offer

• Remuneration compatible with the level of experience and responsibility of the position — the job ad does not disclose the salary range;
• Personal development opportunities within an international project context;
• Involvement in strategic environmental and maritime projects within the Afungi LNG perimeter;
• Work in a multidisciplinary team, with direct contact with field teams, vessel crews, and senior management.
