Under the Belgium-Mozambique cooperation program, Enabel is implementing climate resilience and disaster risk reduction initiatives in Mozambique. Support focuses on disaster preparedness, community early warning systems, and resilient housing solutions in the most disaster-prone districts of Nampula province.
In this role, you will act as Enabel's field representative in Nampula province, making regular trips to project districts, and supporting the implementation of disaster risk reduction and resilience activities at the community and district levels.
Responsibilities include supporting disaster preparedness, resilient housing, and community early warning activities; working closely with communities, local authorities, and the INGD Provincial Delegation; and supporting the creation, reactivation, and training of local and district disaster risk management committees.
You will also oversee the field installation and testing of early warning equipment; monitor field activities and report on progress, challenges, and lessons learned; and prepare field reports, site documentation, and photographic records.
The position includes facilitating coordination meetings and stakeholder engagement at the provincial and district levels, as well as contributing to inclusive approaches that ensure the participation of women, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. You will also follow up on DRR and preparedness processes and requests requiring the Field Officer's expertise, as requested by the DRR Specialist or the Intervention Manager.
Expected outcomes include the effective implementation of DRR activities in target districts, strengthened community preparedness and early warning mechanisms, improved coordination with local authorities and key stakeholders, and timely, accurate field monitoring and reporting.
Regarding terms, the position offers an 18-month contract, based in the city of Nampula with frequent travel within the province. The salary package is competitive, in accordance with Enabel's pay scale (class 4).
