Electrical or Mechanical Engineer — Heading (Songo, Tete)

The essentials: a Electrical or Mechanical Engineer position at Heading Moçambique, based at the Songo site in Tete province. Applications are open until 31 October 2026 and are made through the company's official careers portal at heading.peoplenect.com (shortcut: bit.ly/electrical-engineer-songo). The contract type and salary are not stated — both to be confirmed with the company.

Context

The project in Songo, Tete province, is run by Heading Moçambique, which has engineering teams in Europe coordinating the technical work. Current site activities include preparation for on-site machining, assessment of existing components, installation planning, material handling, and preparation for the upcoming rehabilitation and installation works.

This role is the technical bridge between the site and the engineering teams in Europe: the person who makes sure what is on paper — drawings, specifications, installation plans — is executed at the site, in coordination with the site manager. It is an industrial worksite environment, with permanent interfaces between the field and the European engineering side.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an engineer — electrical or mechanical — who feels at home on an industrial worksite, coordinating people, equipment and documentation. The role suits someone who likes field work, solves technical problems — between an electrical schematic and a piece of equipment under rehabilitation — and works well with engineering teams in Europe.

This is a worksite role: it demands presence in the field without letting go of technical rigour. The quality of what is executed depends on who coordinates it. The person appointed works side by side with the Songo team, under the supervision of the site manager, on a project that runs from the preparation phases through to the rehabilitation and installation works.

What you will do day to day

The day to day revolves around supporting the site team with everything technical:

• Provide electrical and/or mechanical engineering support to the site team;
• Support the site manager in the technical coordination of ongoing site activities;
• Coordinate technical matters between the team in Songo and the engineering teams in Europe;
• Support inspection and assessment of existing equipment and installations;
• Help clarify technical issues identified during site activities;
• Support installation, rehabilitation, testing and commissioning activities;
• Review drawings, specifications and other technical documentation relevant to the works;
• Follow up the technical interfaces between existing equipment and new or rehabilitated equipment;
• Contribute to preparing technical documentation, reports and site records;
• Take part in technical coordination with the employer and other project stakeholders, where required;
• Contribute to compliance with applicable technical, quality and safety requirements.

What the position offers

• Work location: Songo site, Tete province;
• A rehabilitation and installation project, with engineering teams in Europe;
• Salary: to be discussed with the company (not disclosed).
