The unit is seeking a candidate profile that combines technical soundness with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and in coordination contexts with governments, technical partners, and local communities.
Concrete tasks include: producing technical, economic, financial, climate, gender, and road safety analyses, including traffic data collection; supporting project quality through peer reviews, operational missions, and supervision reports; participating in the formulation of sector strategies and the identification of financing and partnerships; monitoring the performance of ongoing projects; and keeping technical documents and lessons learned up to date.
The role also includes preparing technical and budget proposals to secure new assignments, as well as interacting with technical partners and donors within the group's transport portfolio.
The desired profile includes the ability to work in multicultural environments, with availability for travel related to ongoing projects.
Formal requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or an equivalent field, with a Master's degree being an advantage; at least 2 years of experience in urban transport, roads, ports, airports, or logistics projects within public institutions, multilateral organizations, or consultancies; experience in demand modeling and economic appraisal of investments; proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, or equivalent software; advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
Language skills: fluency in English and Portuguese, written and spoken, with French as an added advantage. The desired profile includes a sense of urgency, readiness for calculated risk-taking, the ability to work with autonomy and accountability, and personal and professional integrity, in line with the World Bank Group's cultural attributes.
The position is open to Mozambican citizens and is part of the group's strategy to strengthen local capacity to execute transport projects in Southern Africa.
