Field Consultants — RE2CLID Program (Sofala and Tete)

Key points: the OIM is opening 4 Field Consultant positions in the RE2CLID Program, based in one of four districts — Caia, Marromeu, Nhamatanda or Mutarara —, in Sofala or Tete province. The engagement is a consultancy, with an initial term of 6 months, extendable up to 11 months. Applications go through the OIM e-Recruitment system, until 3 November 2026.

About the OIM and the RE2CLID Program

The International Organization for Migration (OIM) is the United Nations agency that coordinates migration and responses to population movements. In Mozambique, the OIM runs the RE2CLID Program in the districts of Caia and Marromeu, in Sofala, and of Nhamatanda and Mutarara, in Tete.

In this program, the field consultant is the link between the OIM, the district administration and the communities. The work involves reading the district context — local institutions, ongoing projects, exposure to climate risks and livelihoods — and maintaining contact with the district administration, partners and communities.

What you will do

The work takes place in the districts of Caia and Marromeu, in Sofala, and of Nhamatanda and Mutarara, in Tete, and requires frequent travel to rural and remote areas. Day to day, you will move between the districts, the communities and the program team, collecting information and reporting back.

• Read the district context — who decides, which projects are running, where the risks are and how the communities sustain themselves;
• Keep open lines with the district administration, the partners and the communities;
• Support the relationship with the Climate Ambassadors, the OIM's field figure that engages the communities;
• Track the progress of the activities and flag what is going well, the delays and the new opportunities;
• Leave clear records of the meetings, with field notes and short summaries.

Who we are looking for

The OIM is looking for someone comfortable in contact with rural communities and the local administration, with a taste for field work and the relationship with partners, and able to keep clear records. The fit matters: it requires availability for frequent travel to remote areas and ongoing follow-up of the activities.

Whoever applies for this role spends the days moving between the communities, the district administrations and the program team, collecting information and reporting what is happening in the field. It is not a desk job: most of the time is spent out in the communities and on travel between districts.

What the OIM offers

• A consultancy engagement, with an initial 6 months and the possibility of extension up to 11 months;
• Assignment to one of the four districts — Caia, Marromeu, Nhamatanda or Mutarara —, in Sofala or Tete, with frequent travel to rural communities;
• Work integrated in the OIM's RE2CLID program, in direct contact with the district administration and the communities.
