The essentials: Solidarités International is looking for a Field Coordinator (M/F) for Pemba, Cabo Delgado, on a six-month mission with a desired start date of October 1, 2026. Apply on the official Solidarités International portal by that date — the vacancy may close before the deadline.
Solidarités International (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization with over 40 years of experience, specializing in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and food security and livelihoods (FSL), operating in 26 countries.
Present in Mozambique since March 2019, SI first responded to Cyclone Idai and entered Mueda in July 2021, later expanding to Nangade, Muidumbe, Palma, and Mocímboa da Praia. Mission coordination has been based in Pemba since 2022, with operations covering the northern districts as well as Metuge, Chiúre, Mecúfi, and Ancuabe.
The program integrates rapid response mechanism (RRM), water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), food security and livelihoods (FSL), and shelter. Following funding cuts in 2025 that scaled down the mission from around 140 to nearly 50 staff members, SI continued operating in 2026 with support from donors such as ECHO, SDC, CDCS, OCHA, IFSAN, and UNICEF.
This newly created position comes within this updated operational design, which includes opening a sub-base in southern Cabo Delgado.
Delegated by country management, you will represent SI in your area of intervention, liaising with humanitarian workers, administrative, military, and political authorities, civil society, and the media.
In Pemba, the security level is 2, with very limited restrictions: stable water and electricity, reliable 4G internet, no curfew, and sub-bases are less than an hour away by car or UNHAS flight. In Chiúre and new areas, there are tighter restrictions — movements depend on local conditions and guidance from the security department.
The priorities for the first two to three months are clear: structure the new base and define decision-making responsibilities (RACI); launch a new project funded by DG INTPA; and start area-level implementation of the 2027–2029 country strategy.
