The essentials: Absa Bank Moçambique is recruiting a Financial Crime Officer – Data Analyst for its financial crime prevention team at the headquarters in Torres Rani, Maputo. Full-time position; applications open until October 15, 2026, through the official Absa Bank career portal (Workday).
Absa Bank Moçambique is one of the largest and most recognized banking institutions in the country, serving individual clients, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations. It is part of the Absa Group, a pan-African banking network with a presence in multiple markets.
At the core of its operation is the protection of the financial system against the sector's major risks: money laundering and terrorist financing. These are threats that are not immediately visible, but leave a trail in every transaction, every customer, and every KYC (Know Your Customer) process.
The Financial Crime Operations department focuses on this mission. It is here that the bank transforms data into prevention. The open position combines banking, data analysis, and compliance into a single role, with a direct impact on customer safety and the institution's reputation.
We are looking for someone with an analytical mind and a keen eye for detail, for whom turning data into decisions is daily work. You will handle KYC data, sanctions, control monitoring, and reporting, translating all of it into useful information for management.
The right fit is about rigor, integrity, and discretion: this involves sensitive customer and risk data, demanding precision and responsibility. If you enjoy investigations, finding hidden patterns in large datasets, and helping build the bank's risk management culture, this role is for you.
Financial crime prevention isn't done on intuition: it is done through data. The analyst reads the signals left behind in every movement — who opens an account, how they use it, in what amounts, with what frequency — and looks for what doesn't align. Every anomaly flagged is a risk avoided or caught in time.
The role works closely with various areas of the bank — from technology and systems to operations, compliance, and risk — in an environment where every decision must be justified and recorded.
The difference compared to a standard data analyst role lies in the subject matter: the data belongs to customers and concerns risk. The required response is always the same — rigor, traceability, and a record that supports every decision.
Send your updated CV and cover letter through the official Absa Bank career portal (Workday). The process is handled exclusively through that portal, so there is no need to send emails. The deadline is October 15, 2026.
