The essential — Nitidæ is looking for a Project Manager for the Green Value for Growth (GV4G) program, focused on the pineapple and coffee value chains. The position is based in Maputo or Nampula, and applications should be sent via email to jobs@nitidae.org, with a deadline of November 16, 2026.
You report to Nitidæ's Representative for Mozambique and coordinate the organization's teams spread across Zambézia, Nampula, and Manica, with frequent travel between these provinces and Maputo. You take care of planning, budget control, and the production of deliverables, ensuring that environmental and social requirements are integrated into all activities.
Nitidæ is an international organization based in Lyon, France, specialized in sustainable rural development projects with a strong biodiversity conservation component. It operates mainly in Africa, combining environmental preservation with the socio-economic development of territories, and maintains around thirty projects and a team of 250 staff including economists, engineers, agronomists, forest managers, and soil carbon specialists.
Present in Mozambique since 2013, the organization works in Zambézia, around the Gilé National Park and the Namuli mountain Key Biodiversity Area, and, more recently, in Nampula and Manica, production centers for pineapple and coffee. It implements the ACAMOZ II, NAMULI, and SATAF projects.
GV4G is a five-year action funded by the European Union and the Kingdom of the Netherlands under the Global Gateway initiative, aimed at accelerating Mozambique's transition towards greener, climate-resilient, and inclusive development, transforming the soybean, pineapple, and coffee value chains along the Beira and Nacala corridors.
Nitidæ is the technical entity responsible for the pineapple chain within a consortium of four partners — TechnoServe, the lead partner, Resilience, Nitidæ, and the Zambezi Valley Development Agency — supporting production through action-research for agroecological transition, strengthening producer organizations, supporting landscape governance, deforestation monitoring, and policy dialogue in the sector.
You lead the field implementation of Nitidæ's technical strategy for the pineapple chain, from training in agroecological practices for agroforestry systems to structuring the joint commercialization of agricultural products. You coordinate coffee and landscape activities in Namuli and Gurué and articulate with the organization's own laboratory for spatial analysis and deforestation monitoring.
You manage the program budget — regular monitoring, forecasts, and annual budgets, including grants to producer organizations — and ensure compliance with the rules of the organization, donors, and the consortium. You produce Nitidæ's contributions to the technical and financial reports consolidated by the Program Management Unit and participate in the capitalization of shareable knowledge.
You manage a team of over 20 people, including field staff, handling recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation, ensuring inclusive hiring and gender balance. You represent the organization in program coordination bodies and maintain constructive relations with national, provincial, and district authorities, protected area managers, research institutes, cooperatives, and value chain companies.
You need a Master's degree (or equivalent) in agronomy, agricultural economics, forestry, environment/biodiversity, or rural development, and at least five years of experience in rural development or value chain project management, in an NGO, consultancy, international organization, or the private sector, preferably in Africa. Experience in European Union-funded projects and consortium work is an asset.
You master tropical agricultural value chains, preferably pineapple and coffee, agroecology and agroforestry, and integrated landscape conservation approaches. You have experience in structuring producer organizations and working with the private sector; knowledge of traceability issues (EUDR) is valued, as is attention to gender, inclusion, and community participation issues.
You are fluent in Portuguese and English; French is an asset. Autonomy, rigor, analytical capacity, pragmatism, and results-orientation are valued, along with the ability to work in a multicultural and remote environment and a taste for good humor. Knowledge of Mozambique, particularly Zambézia, Manica, and Nampula, is an asset.
The position is open to qualified Mozambican candidates and foreign candidates who already hold a valid work permit for Mozambique. The contract is a one-year fixed-term contract, renewable, governed by Mozambican law for nationals (local salary scale and local health coverage) or by French law for expatriate candidates (expatriate scale, SYNTEC collective agreement, with international health and repatriation coverage).
Send your curriculum vitae and cover letter to jobs@nitidae.org, with the reference «Application – PM GV4G Mozambique – [Last Name, First Name]». Only complete applications will be considered and the position may be filled before the deadline.
The application deadline is November 16, 2026.
