Save the Children International (SCI) is recruiting a Health and Nutrition Coordinator, based in Chiúre, Cabo Delgado province. Save the Children is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization focusing on child well-being. It operates in more than 30 countries and, in Mozambique, develops responses in the areas of protection, health, education, and livelihoods with vulnerable communities.
The Health Coordinator provides technical guidance to the implementation process of mobile health brigade activities. The focus is on delivering mobile services for vaccination, medical-sanitary assistance, maternal and child healthcare, and nutritional counseling targeted at internally displaced persons (IDP) centers, host communities, and hard-to-reach communities.
Together with the DPS/SPS, the position holder plans, guides, and supports the effective implementation, delivery, and management of EAPVs and awareness-raising activities. They also support the health program in developing and delivering training packages and monitoring tools.
The central objective is to ensure that mobile brigades are conducted consistently and that children under 6 months receive the necessary care to prevent malnutrition.
Chiúre is a district in the north of Cabo Delgado province where the humanitarian response works with internally displaced persons and host communities. The project in question is currently in the approval phase, and the organization is identifying potential candidates with the sought profile at this stage.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the post holder will be expected to work outside their normal job profile and working hours may vary accordingly.
The published requirements indicate that only Mozambican nationals will be considered for subsequent stages of the recruitment and selection process.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Health or Nutrition, a diploma in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nursing, or training as a Nurse or General Medicine Technician, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a community health and primary community health program.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in leading work teams, planning and executing community health activities targeting displaced people, and prior work in NGOs or United Nations agencies are expected.
The candidate must demonstrate proven ability to supervise and train staff, demonstrable report writing skills, and excellent communication skills, including work experience with government partners and community-based organizations.
Other requirements include the ability to work under pressure, availability to work flexible hours in case of major emergencies, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, with sensitivity to cultural and language difficulties.
Computer literacy, with skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet, and commitment to Save the Children's values are valued.
As desirable: experience in emergency programming and/or nutrition program planning, and familiarity with operational guidelines on mobile brigades, including monitoring and evaluation.
