About the organization and job context

Johanniter International Assistance is the humanitarian assistance arm of the German organization Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and operates in Mozambique supporting communities directly. To strengthen its program team in the North of the country, the organization intends to hire a professional to join the health and nutrition sector at the Pemba base.

In this position, you will work directly on the clinical and public health response within local communities. Your work ranges from providing direct clinical care and patient triage to active participation in emergency response and strategic planning of program activities.

Within the team structure, you report directly to the Health and Nutrition focal point. Functionally, you report to the Health and Nutrition Officer at the country office.

What you will do day-to-day

Your responsibilities are divided between community clinical care delivery, medical resource management, and field emergency response in Cabo Delgado. On a daily basis, you will perform the following duties and tasks:

• Support community clinical activity, conducting consultations, patient triage, and direct case management;
• Organize and manage stocks of medicines and medical supplies required for field activities;
• Report diseases within public health surveillance systems;
• Contribute to the rapid response to epidemiological outbreaks, participating in investigation, containment, and data communication actions;
• Support the strategic planning of health services integrated into the organization's program;
• Participate in setting up, installing, and operating emergency clinics in crisis response settings;
• Ensure coordination between clinical care provision and public health actions in the services provided;
• Promote clinical accountability and maintain constant communication with work teams, humanitarian partners, and local communities.

Working conditions and benefits

The organization provides a structured set of conditions and benefits to support the professional's activity in the field:

• Working hours: 40 hours per week, including weekend work on a rotational basis;
• Leave and time off: 25 days of annual leave, 1 day of sick leave, and 3 days of Independence Day holiday;

What you will learn and experience

In this position, you will follow the complete cycle of the organization's clinical and public health response. You will experience everything from initial consultation and triage to outbreak notification, emergency clinic installation, and medicine stock management in coordination with partners.

This experience strengthens your ability to operate in crisis scenarios and multidisciplinary teams working with conflict-affected communities. It provides you with hands-on practice collaborating with humanitarian partners and local populations.
