The essentials: Aga Khan Academy in Maputo is recruiting an IT Associate for the school's technology department. The position is full-time, based in Maputo City, and reports to the Lead IT Specialist. Applications are open until October 30, 2026, and the process is handled by email via Recruitment.Maputo@agakhanacademies.org.
AKS Maputo is part of Aga Khan Schools (AKS), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a global system of schools, boarding schools, and non-formal education programs.
The network serves over 120,000 students annually across 12 countries in East Africa, the Middle East, and South and Central Asia, supported by more than 7,000 teachers and staff alongside dedicated volunteers.
AKS is committed to improving the quality of life through education, expanding access to high-quality, values-driven learning that prepares students to contribute to their communities in an interconnected world.
In Mozambique, AKS includes an international K-12 school in Maputo, featuring boarding facilities, which offers International Baccalaureate programs: Early Years Programme, Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme.
The core mission of the position is to provide technical support for the delivery of the school's information technology function. The IT Associate is responsible for first-line end-user support and the continuous improvement of services, infrastructure, systems, and cybersecurity controls, within organizational standards and service levels. Defined responsibilities include:
This is a first-line technical support role: you will be the first person school staff turn to when hardware fails, when the network fluctuates, or when a system needs adjusting. The right fit involves having practical experience in IT support and documenting every step in the helpdesk, rather than keeping everything in memory.
We are looking for someone comfortable in a team environment, who enjoys solving problems rather than making excuses, and who moves easily when coordinating people from different areas in a school where technology serves, above all, education.
Because the school works with children and young people, their well-being is at the center: the school's safeguarding policy — the commitment to protecting children, young people, and vulnerable adults — is a condition of all positions, and this one in particular.
The natural fit is someone who already supports infrastructure in a context that is not just technical: behind every service request there are classrooms, students, and an educational community.
Send the complete package by email to Recruitment.Maputo@agakhanacademies.org. The package must include: CV; concise cover letter, maximum two pages, linking your qualifications, experience, and attributes to success in the role; and a list of three references.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and the school reserves the right to close the process before the published deadline if an outstanding candidate is identified earlier — so apply as soon as possible. Deadline: October 30, 2026. Salary: to be negotiated — the announcement does not disclose the amount.
