About Save The Children

Save The Children International (SCI) is a non-profit humanitarian organization focused on child well-being.

The LINK project is a climate adaptation and resilience program operating in the provinces of Manica, Gaza, and Tete, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries (MAAP).

The project's Local Adaptation Plans (PLAs) aim to improve climate resilience at the district level. When necessary, the position integrates complementary activities of the climate change strategy (Mega LINK).

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone capable of leading monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems in the context of a climate adaptation project, in liaison with field teams and local governments.

You will convert evidence into decisions: monitoring data, community feedback, and results from data quality assessments will guide project implementation.

This is a field-based position: you will monitor implementation in communities and support the project team in maintaining execution and reporting quality.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Ensure implementation of the LINK project MEAL system in the provinces of Manica, Gaza, and Tete, in compliance with Save The Children's global strategy, policies, and practices, as well as donor requirements, notably GCF.
• Conduct regular quality monitoring of implementation at the community level and use collected evidence to inform project decisions.
• Ensure regular data collection and prepare reports on performance indicator progress.
• Support the project team in maintaining execution and reporting quality.
• Contribute to establishing a community-based accountability system through which beneficiaries — especially children — provide feedback and influence project decision-making.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Local Adaptation Plans (PLAs) in improving climate resilience at the district level, documenting lessons learned and best practices, and creating knowledge products from the MEAL mechanism.
• Develop and implement the Adaptation Monitoring System (DAT) for PLAs across 9 districts, ensuring annual reports are validated by Community Resilience Networks (RRC) and approved by local government.
• Collaborate with MAAP, INAM, and the Provincial Environment Service (SPA) in the design and implementation of DAT, promoting active participation of local government authorities and RRCs.
• Ensure that the DAT recognizes adaptation priorities defined by each district and criteria for measuring their effectiveness, tracking each district's individual progress and facilitating cross-district comparisons.

What we offer

• Position based in Maputo.
• Integration into the LINK project team, a climate adaptation and resilience program implemented in partnership with MAAP.
• Remuneration is not disclosed by the organization.
