The essentials: Partnerships Officer (CST II) position at the WFP – World Food Programme country office, based in Maputo, 6-month International Consultant Level II contract, applications open until October 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Maputo time) — applications must be submitted solely through the official WFP recruitment system (Workday).
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization: saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.
It is a 2020 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and brings together around its mission a core set of values — integrity, collaboration, commitment, humanity, and inclusion — that guide diverse, committed, and high-performing teams.
WFP in Mozambique is preparing its new Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2027–2030. The context is challenging: humanitarian and development funding is increasingly constrained, donor priorities are shifting, and Mozambique faces a combination of shocks — climate events, conflict, and economic pressure — that challenges traditional multi-year planning.
In response, the country office has strengthened dialogue with the Government of Mozambique and expanded cooperation with International Financial Institutions (IFIs).
The Partnerships Officer position supports the analysis, cultivation, and strategic positioning of these partnerships, with a special focus on IFIs and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank. The role reports under the overall supervision of the Country Director and direct supervision of the Head of External Relations Unit.
The role has concrete deliverables: a mapped and prioritized IFI partnership pipeline; engagement strategies and position papers for priority IFIs and Government counterparts; value propositions tailored to each opportunity; high-quality concept notes, proposals, and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for donors; and knowledge products and lessons learned from missions and partner engagement.
This is a role for someone who understands the funding landscape: knows how IFIs, DFIs, and donors think, and knows how to engage in dialogue and translate it into partnerships that mobilize resources for national priorities.
The incumbent produces impactful documents — proposals, decision notes, presentations — and maintains relationships with donors, the Government, and agencies even under tight deadlines. WFP expressly encourages qualified women to apply.
Applications must be submitted exclusively through WFP's official recruitment system (Workday). WFP does not consider CVs or applications sent via email, LinkedIn, or any other channel. At the application stage, only a CV and cover letter are required; additional documents (passport, certificates, reference letters) may be requested later in the process.
If you experience technical issues submitting your application, you may contact WFP at global.hrerecruitment@wfp.org — an address reserved exclusively for technical inquiries; unsolicited applications sent to this inbox will not receive a response. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the process.
One point before submitting: the UN does not charge any fee — application, processing, training, interview, assessment, or any other — at any stage of recruitment. If you are asked for any payment in WFP's name, it is a scam: ignore the request. Exercise particular caution when submitting personal information online, as emblems, logos, and names are easily copied.
