What you will do day-to-day

In this senior project engineering role, you will take on technical project management and team coordination. Your daily responsibilities include the following activities:

• Manage the engineering scope of McDermott projects and ensure deliverables meet the quality and technical content of contractual documents.
• Establish and implement project procedures, including the execution plan with multi-office execution where applicable, responsibility matrix, and coordination procedure.
• Prepare and support proposals for prospective projects and integrate engineering requirements into contractual documents.
• Promote safety in engineering designs and work processes.
• Direct and coordinate the engineering team and various disciplines, supervising and mentoring project engineers.
• Ensure interdisciplinary communication through minutes, technical query clarifications, design deviations, RFI responses, and weekly and monthly reports.
• Take responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control, keeping changes under management through timely actions.
• Lead the orderly project handover and archiving in the final phase, including closeout reports and recording lessons learned.

Profile and reporting lines

As a Principal Project Engineer, you operate with a high degree of autonomy and minimal supervision in complex situations. You have the ability to identify technical risks in contractual documents, solve complex problems with a broad perspective, and explain difficult concepts to the client and team.

The role may include leading functional teams or entire projects. In the reporting structure, the position reports to the Project Engineering Manager, the Engineering Director, and the Project Manager of the specific project.

Working conditions

The position is full-time in the city of Maputo. It offers a key role in the engineering line across projects of varying scale and complexity, with the responsibility to lead teams, disciplines, and technical execution.
