The position is part of the EpiC Global Health Security project, a health security initiative funded by the U.S. government and implemented in Mozambique by FHI 360. The acronym EpiC stands for «Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control». Your role is located in the surveillance line, with a provincial focus.
In Mozambique, the project prioritizes strengthening disease surveillance systems and outbreak response readiness capacity, within the framework of global health and the One Health approach, which articulates human, animal, and environmental health.
You will support the implementation of EpiC GHS surveillance activities at the provincial level, based in Nampula, maintaining alignment with provincial priorities. You will report directly to the Quality Improvement Director. The core tasks are:
You will be based in Nampula, with frequent travel to districts supported by the province for outbreak response, field investigations, and district support. Occasionally, you will travel to Maputo and other provinces for coordination meetings, training, and national-level response activities. Travel accounts for 25 to 50% of your working time.
The environment is an office setting: prolonged screen time, repetitive keyboard work, and long intervals sitting or standing. You may need to handle loads weighing up to approximately 2.3 kg.
You will address problems ranging from moderate to complex scope: select methods and techniques with sound judgment, and escalate emerging issues to senior technical teams. There is no direct report of subordinates: you act based on project guidelines and procedures and, when necessary, guide lower-level technicians.
You will use a laptop, mobile phone, and the standard suite of office applications (Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Zoom/Teams).
The disclosed base annual remuneration ranges between USD 34,000 and USD 43,000. The final amount is determined by FHI 360, weighing background and experience, internal equity, market benchmarks, and budget; for internal candidates, the organization's current progression policy applies.
