Position: Research and Data Analysis Assistant, full-time, in Maputo. Application deadline: November 12, 2026. Method: by email only, to recrutamento@omrmz.org. Decision-maker: Observatório do Meio Rural.
Observatório do Meio Rural (OMR) is recruiting a Research and Data Analysis Assistant for its team in Maputo. The position directly supports the organization's research activities: design and analysis of databases, organization, processing, and analysis of information for studies, reports, articles, and other research products. The successful candidate will work full-time under the guidance of OMR researchers and coordinators.
Your work is based on managing the complete data cycle of a research project. You will receive databases from ongoing studies and projects and keep them organized, updated, cleaned, validated, and reliable over time. Then, you will collect and systematize information from statistical, administrative, and bibliographic sources, integrating everything into consistent data sets ready for analysis.
You will also contribute to the production of indicators, statistical analysis, and the preparation of supporting information for OMR studies, reports, articles, and other research products. All of this is done under the direct guidance of researchers and coordinators, with whom you will work throughout the entire process.
From then on, you will produce tables, charts, maps, and other data visualization and presentation tools. You will identify relevant trends, patterns, and results in the analyzed sets and prepare preliminary findings under the guidance of researchers. You will also support the preparation of reports, articles, and presentations, and respond to technical requests from researchers and coordinators.
OMR is looking for a profile with a quantitative background. Education must be in Economics, Statistics, or a related field, and the role requires comfort with data: Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and at least one statistical software — Stata, R, or SPSS.
Searching for data from national and international sources is part of the daily routine: INE, Bank of Mozambique, government institutions, World Bank, IMF, and the United Nations system. Knowledge of the Mozambican economy, with attention to agriculture, the agrarian sector, rural development, and the socioeconomic framework of rural areas, is an advantage.
The same applies to geographic information system tools, such as ArcGIS or QGIS, and English proficiency, which is also an advantage alongside fluency in Portuguese.
Applications must be submitted with an updated CV, academic qualifications certificate, a copy of the Identity Card, and a copy of the NUIT.
Add other documents proving relevant experience or training, when applicable. The CV must be complete — contacts, education, and experience — and documents legible: if the qualifications certificate needs to be requested from the institution, obtain it in advance. OMR receives applications by email only.
Gather the documents and send them to the address indicated in the "The Essentials" section. The announcement does not specify a subject line for the message; indicate the position, Research and Data Analysis Assistant, in the subject line to facilitate screening.
Before sending, check the list of mandatory documents — updated CV, academic qualifications certificate, copy of the Identity Card, copy of the NUIT, and additional proofs of experience or training, when available.
The application deadline ends on November 12, 2026. There is no indication of salary or salary range in the published text, and the only channel is OMR's email. Only selected candidates will be contacted. The role is to support research and data analysis in Maputo; the published text does not provide for travel or fieldwork.
