Save the Children International (SCI) has opened a position for a Social Inclusion Officer, in the area of gender equality and disability inclusion, based in Chiúre, Cabo Delgado province.
The position is part of a multisectoral humanitarian project covering child protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), WASH, and cash assistance. The application deadline is October 11, 2026, with submission via the organization's careers website (job requisition 17845). The vacancy announcement does not state a salary amount.
Save the Children is an international non-profit humanitarian organization focused on child well-being. In Chiúre, the organization responds to the needs of the most vulnerable children, adolescents, and families.
The Social Inclusion Officer ensures the systematic mainstreaming of gender equality and disability inclusion across all project components, ensuring that the most vulnerable children, adolescents, and families have safe, equitable, dignified, and meaningful access to humanitarian services.
Specifically, the programmatic response must be sensitive to and fully inclusive of disability; it must identify and eliminate physical, social, and institutional access barriers; it must promote the meaningful and safe participation of children and adolescents, including children with disabilities; and it must integrate Do No Harm principles, accountability, and the centrality of protection across all interventions.
The Officer acts as the technical focal point for inclusion, providing support to sectoral teams in operationalizing the Twin-Track approach: mainstreaming inclusion across all project services and activities, and implementing specific, tailored interventions for the needs of children with disabilities.
In coordination with implementing partners, organizations of persons with disabilities, and local authorities, the officer ensures that inclusion and participation principles—and the commitment to leave no one behind—are operationalized throughout the project, while also supporting the collection and analysis of indicators, including those disaggregated by sex, age, and disability.
Chiúre is a district in Cabo Delgado where the organization's humanitarian response operates. The project is currently in the approval phase, and the organization is identifying candidates with the required profile during this stage.
In the event of a severe humanitarian emergency, the post holder will be expected to work outside their normal role profile and working hours may vary accordingly.
Subsequent phases of the recruitment and selection process are reserved for Mozambican nationals, as per the job announcement.
Regarding education, a university degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, or Community Development is required, combined with a minimum track record of 3 years in child protection, gender, disability inclusion, and psychosocial support, preferably in humanitarian field settings.
Experience combining community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, awareness-raising training, and coordination with key stakeholders—including government, UN agencies, civil society, and organizations of persons with disabilities—is expected.
Written and spoken communication in Portuguese and English must be excellent; local languages are an advantage. The role involves field travel and flexible hours during emergencies.
Applications must be submitted on the organization's careers website: open the link for job requisition 17845 at hcri.fa.em2.oraclecloud.com and complete the form before October 11, 2026. Selection is conducted directly by Save the Children without third-party involvement; the process does not involve any fee payments.
