Technical Field Services Engineer — Versalis (Pemba)

About the Job

Versalis is the chemical company of the Eni group, a global energy company operating in 61 countries with over 30,000 employees. Versalis International operates in basic and intermediate chemicals, plastics, rubbers, and chemicals from renewable sources, with a portfolio of around 700 products and 7 research centers.

In Mozambique, they are looking for a Technical Field Services Engineer specializing in Oilfield Chemicals, based in Pemba. In this role, you will supervise operations and activities related to the services Versalis provides to clients in the district. Reporting is to the Branch Manager of Versalis and the local Project Coordinator.

What you will do on a daily basis

• Supervise operations in the oil and gas industry at a regional level.
• Serve as the point of contact and representative of Versalis for all clients, ensuring appropriate services are delivered for each operation.
• Ensure that all chemical treatments and associated services meet the specific requirements of each client, delivered on time.
• Handle incoming requests: prepare technical reports based on concrete needs and coordinate service delivery by subcontractors and other group resources.
• Perform chemical performance testing in a laboratory environment whenever necessary.
• Manage all subcontractor activities and corporate resources throughout operations.

What we are looking for in you

We are looking for a candidate with a scientific and technical background that translates into field work: someone who can interpret a field problem, translate it into a technical report, and coordinate subcontractors and corporate resources through to the solution.

The role is largely representational: you are the point of contact and representative of Versalis for clients in the district, requiring confidence, clarity, and rigor in what you communicate and deliver.

There is also a practical aspect: the role includes laboratory performance testing when required, and managing incoming requests from technical report preparation to coordinating delivery by subcontractors and group resources. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling technical matters from start to finish, from the initial request to the final report.

What you will learn here

You will enter the oilfield chemicals segment, the specialty area covering services and chemical treatments related to oil and gas operations.

It is also a gateway to learning about the group's research and development work: technologies for polymer recycling, biorefining, carbon capture and storage, and renewable chemistry, aligned with the group's target of carbon neutrality by 2050.

And you will gain firsthand insight into how a company operating in over 30 countries with around 700 products manages technical customer support in the Pemba district, with integrated laboratory and subcontractor services.

What the company offers

The job posting does not disclose salary details or benefits, so conditions will be negotiated directly with Versalis during the selection process. The position is part of the Versalis International structure in Pemba, within the context of the group's energy transition.
