Who we are looking for

Absa is looking for someone with experience in banking operations, familiarity with cash handling, and strict attention to detail. You must feel comfortable with vaults, tellers, reports, and audits — as well as the end-of-day pressure of a bank treasury, where operations cannot stop due to lack of cash.

The person in this role works in direct coordination with tellers, security, and branch management, and is responsible for cash integrity during every opening and closing. This is a role for someone comfortable with a disciplined routine: processes exist, are auditable, and must be followed to the letter.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Manage the main branch vault and ensure its proper usage;
• Ensure cash replenishment for tellers and ATMs according to operational needs;
• Receive, verify, safeguard, and dispatch funds;
• Control teller cash limits and branch treasury levels;
• Perform daily treasury opening and closing procedures;
• Reconcile teller and treasury balances and report differences or irregularities;
• Prepare cash movement and treasury position reports;
• Coordinate cash-in-transit operations in alignment with security companies;
• Support internal, external audits, and regulatory inspections;
• Comply with Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT) regulations.
