CV for Technical Professions: Driver, Operator, Technician
CV for driver, operator and technician in Mozambique: licenses and categories at the top, machinery by name and ready-to-use profile examples. Step-by-step.

A technical CV in Mozambique puts licenses and machinery at the top: driver's license with category, operating hours, equipment you master, and certificates. It is one or two pages that tell the recruiter, in seconds, that you can do the job — without needing ten years of experience.
This article is part of the Inademy Guide, where you can find practical answers for every stage of your job search in Mozambique.
The short answer
The technical CV follows the same usual structure — profile, experience, education, skills — but with the technical part highlighted: licenses, categories, machinery, certificates, and number of hours. This is what the recruiter looks for first, and it's what the job's initial filters look for as well.
- Licenses and certifications at the top — driver's license with category, operator certificates, maintenance, workplace safety.
- Specific machinery and equipment — by name: forklift, backhoe, 10-ton truck, crane, cash register.
- Experience with numbers — driving years, operating hours, types of cargo and terrain.
- One or two pages, in PDF — as recommended by a Mozambican job portal (15-09-2025).
- No excessive personal information — ID number (BI) and NUIT belong to the contract stage, not the CV.
Why a technical CV is different from others
When a job opening for a driver, operator, or technician reaches a recruiter, they read the CV with one question in mind: can this person do the job? Biography doesn't matter — practical proof does. And practical proof for a technical role is concrete: a valid driver's license with the right category, a forklift operator certificate, data on the machinery you have already operated.
Employers in Mozambique filter candidates by criteria such as years of experience, specific training, and professional licenses. That is why a technical CV cannot hide licenses at the end: they are the first signal the recruiter looks for.And a truth that many people ignore: a technical CV doesn't need to be long. One page with the right licenses, the right experience, and the right numbers beats three pages of generic descriptions.

What to put at the top of a technical CV
The section for licenses and technical skills goes right after the name and profile summary. It is the section that decides whether you pass the initial job filters:
- Driver's license — state the category (B, C, D), how many years you've had it, and if it's valid. "Category C driver's license, valid, since 2019" is more informative than just "I have a license."
- Specific certificates — forklift operator, crane, heavy machinery, welding, electricity, mechanical maintenance, occupational health and safety.
- Machinery and equipment — by name and brand, if relevant: "reach truck", "backhoe loader", "dump truck", "lathe", "20-ton crane".
- Support skills — map and plan reading, GPS knowledge, vehicle consumption and maintenance, first aid.
- Availability — for shifts, travel, or moving across provinces. In technical roles, mobility is half the job.
And what stays out: ID number (BI), NUIT (tax ID), and place of birth. A Mozambican job portal (15-09-2025) points out unnecessary personal information as a common mistake — and a Mozambican CV writing guide (2026) is clear: BI number and NUIT belong to the contract stage.
Driver CV Example
The recruiter should understand everything in ten seconds. Here is the standard:
Profile summary: "Driver with 3 years of experience in Mozambique, valid category C and D driver's license, zero accidents. Available for long-distance travel and shifts."
Technical skills: "Category C (heavy goods) and D (passenger transport) driver's licenses, valid; driving on national roads and construction sites; basic maintenance; GPS and country route maps."
Experience: "Logistics company, Maputo — Truck Driver (2023–2026). 40,000 km per year on Nampula–Maputo routes; freight cargo up to 10 tons; transport documentation control; zero accident record."
Notice: category, years, kilometers, tons, routes, zero accidents. This is what the recruiter wants to know — nothing else.

Machine Operator CV Example
The same standard, adapted for machinery:
Profile summary: "Heavy machinery operator with 5 years in civil construction, certified backhoe and forklift operator. Looking for a position on construction sites or warehouses."
Technical skills: "Backhoe loader, forklift (2–5 tons), hydraulic excavator; basic blueprint reading; daily machine inspection; occupational safety certificate."
Experience: "Public works construction company, Beira — Operator (2022–2026). 1,200 backhoe operating hours per year; trenching and foundation work on site; daily preventive maintenance; zero downtime due to breakdowns."
Hours, tonnage, and certificates: these are the numbers an operator can prove — and that recruiters look for.
Maintenance Technician CV Example
For technician roles, the standard is the same — certificates, tools, and hours at the top of the skills section:
Technical skills: "First-level mechanical and electrical maintenance; welding; reading basic schematics; hand and power tools; basic electricity certificate."
Experience: "Maintenance workshop, Tete — Technician (2023–2026). 600 maintenance hours per year on generators and engines; fault diagnosis; replaced and documented parts; zero failure recurrence in the first year of operation."
The technician proves value through hours, tools, and certificates — the same standard as the driver and operator.
How to describe technical experience (without exaggerating)
In experience, a technical CV uses the same rule as a regular CV: action verbs and numbers. But with less creativity and more precision:
- State the role and the machine — "backhoe operator", not "worked on site".
- State the time — years, months, operating hours if known.
- State your maintenance duties — daily inspection, simple part replacement, fuel control: this is what sets a professional operator apart.
- State the results — tons transported, completed site areas, cargo delivered on time.
- Never invent — a common mistake in technical CVs is listing machinery you have never operated. The test comes during the interview — and if the machine won't start when tested, the application dies on the spot.
And a warning about lying: MozYouth, a Mozambican youth organization, pointed out exaggeration or lying among common mistakes in youth CVs (17-07-2024). In technical roles, verification is immediate: certificates, licenses, and hour logs are requested. Anything untrue won't stand.
Mistakes that disqualify a technical CV
- Hiding licenses — driver's license and certificates at the end of the CV, after two pages of text. Recruiters won't reach them.
- Saying "I have experience" without numbers — years, hours, tons, kilometers: this is what transforms a statement into proof.
- A generic CV — using the exact same document for driver, operator, and maintenance technician won't pass for any position. Tailor the skills block to each job posting.
- Lacking the basics — correct contact details, PDF document, professional file name: "Machissanga_Driver_CV.pdf", never "final cv.doc".
- Excessive personal information — ID (BI), tax number (NUIT), and marital status on the CV do not help at all and may cost you passing the first filter.

Where these rules come from
The sources are verifiable: Law 13/2023 of August 25, under Article 8, protects personal data during hiring — which is why the BI and NUIT should not be on the CV.
A Mozambican job portal (15-09-2025) recommends one to two pages in PDF format and identifies unnecessary personal information as a common mistake. The Mozambican CV writing guide (2026) is clear that the BI and NUIT belong to the contract stage. And MozYouth, a Mozambican youth organization, listed common errors in youth applications (17-07-2024), including exaggeration and lying.

Frequently asked questions
Which license categories should I include in my CV?
Write the exact category you hold (B, C, D) and mention if it is valid and for how many years. A truck driver position requires category C or higher; a passenger transport position requires category D. If a job requires a category you do not have, your CV won't make the cut — the driver's license is one of the first filters.
Do I need certificates to put on my CV?
If you have them, yes — and it is worth obtaining those you lack. Certificates for machine operators, workplace safety, and first aid are among the most valued. Without a certificate, state your real operating hours: proven experience is your strongest proof.
Can I create a technical CV on a mobile phone?
Yes, you can — and it is the path taken by many workers in Mozambique. Our guide to creating a CV on a mobile phone shows you step-by-step, including exporting to PDF without clipping.
How do I describe machinery if I don't know the technical name?
Describe them as you know them: "trenching machine", "site crane", "warehouse forklift". The recruiter will understand, and during the interview you can confirm the exact name. The important thing is not to invent machinery you have never operated.
Can a technical CV be longer than one page?
One page is enough — and usually ideal. If you have 15 years of construction site experience, multiple certificates, and varied machinery, two pages may make sense, but never more than that. Cut whatever does not add proof.
What about references from previous employers?
Write "references available upon request" on your CV. When the employer requests them, provide two or three with the individuals' consent — a former site supervisor is the best reference an operator can have.
A one or two-page technical CV proves who you are: licenses at the top, machinery by name, experience in numbers.
