GAIN (Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition) is a Swiss foundation created in 2002 at the United Nations to tackle human suffering caused by malnutrition. The institution collaborates with governments, businesses, and civil society to transform food systems, ensuring healthier diets for all people, with special attention to the most vulnerable.
One in three people worldwide does not have access to enough nutritious food. To address this daily challenge, the foundation develops practical solutions in twelve countries with high rates of malnutrition: Mozambique, Bangladesh, Benin, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Headquartered in Geneva, GAIN also maintains representative offices in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The position is based in Pemba and is part of the Cabo Delgado Food Systems Consolidation Program. This project is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and covers operational activities in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, and Zambézia.
As an Administrative Driver, you ensure the safe and professional transportation of the project team during field missions, meetings, and institutional contacts. You also provide logistical assistance and administrative support for the daily operation of the office.
You transport staff to field work locations, partner meetings, and offices in authorized areas of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, and Zambézia. You plan routes based on road conditions, weather, and security information, reporting concerns to the Finance and Administration Assistant prior to departure.
You assist with the transportation, loading, and unloading of program materials and equipment.
You inspect the vehicle before any trip, checking fuel, oil, brakes, lights, tires, and safety equipment. You immediately report any mechanical fault or need for repair.
You ensure the vehicle's cleanliness and good running condition. You track the servicing and insurance schedules, coordinating approved services with authorized mechanics. You ensure secure parking, key management, and the safekeeping of documentation.
You keep the logbook updated on every trip, recording destinations, distance covered, fuel consumption, and incidents. You promptly submit fuel receipts and supporting documents.
You strictly comply with the organization's security procedures, check-in requirements during travel, and Mozambican road traffic regulations. You immediately report accidents or incidents; carrying unauthorized passengers, goods, or drivers is strictly prohibited.
You handle the collection and delivery of mail, documents, and small project equipment. You support the logistical organization of meetings, handle minor office purchases, and maintain full confidentiality regarding schedules, travel, locations of program activities, and documents.
You will report to the Project Manager, working in close collaboration with the foundation's team and approved partners. The role requires long-distance travel, early morning departures, and occasional overnight stays away from the place of residence.
The organization provides travel support, accommodation, and a per diem allowance on authorized missions involving overnight stays. Work takes place in a professional and collaborative environment, with flexibility according to organizational policies and access to training and professional development opportunities.
The position offers the opportunity to contribute to program delivery and the strengthening of food systems in northern Mozambique. The job description is not exhaustive, and you may be asked to perform other duties aligned with the role.
