Audit context

The objective of the assignment is the audit of the financial statements of the cost centers for the project "Mozambique Flood JR 2026". The scope covers the Oxfam office in The Hague, the country office in Mozambique, and the counterpart partner AJOAGO.

The period under review runs from February 10 to August 9, 2026. The audit activities follow the fixed schedule between September 17 and October 15, 2026, with fieldwork scheduled for the period from September 22 to 30, 2026.

What you will do

In this role, you will assume the following responsibilities and daily tasks:

• Define the nature, timing, and extent of audit procedures, adapting actions to the objective, scope, and context of the engagement based on ISA standards.
• Express a formal opinion on the prepared financial statements, confirming that their presentation complies with accounting principles, supporting manuals, and legal standards.
• Verify the legal constitution of the office in The Hague and the country office, ensuring compliance with applicable local laws and regulations.
• Analyze financial and risk management processes, evaluating the existence and operation of internal controls.
• Certify that the application of funds complies with the intended purposes in the annual budget, project budgets, and work plans approved by Oxfam Novib and donors.
• Examine in detail supporting documentation for expenses, budgetary procedures, staff financial management, hiring and payment of consultants, procurement, cost control, and advances to employees.
• Evaluate financial and progress reporting mechanisms used by project teams.
• Prepare the audit report and management letter, including observations, recommendations, and risk severity ratings defined in the working documentation.
• Conduct meetings with project leaders at the head office and country office, gathering management feedback on the draft report for final process completion.

The vacancy provides for 1 position based in Maputo. The work includes on-site activities at the country office in Mozambique and direct visits to the premises of the counterpart entity AJOAGO.

The mandate requires strict compliance with established deadlines, with delivery of the final report and management letter to Oxfam management by October 15, 2026.
