ACRE — Aliança Comunitária para Resiliência e Gestão de Recursos Naturais — is a Mozambican non-profit organisation working on the ground with communities to conserve the environment and promote sustainable development. It is currently recruiting a Field Assistant, based in the district of Moma, Nampula province.
The role falls under the project "Enhancing Resilient Marine and Coastal Ecosystems through Community-Led Restoration under SWIOFC-NC PP2", framed within UNEP and the Nairobi Convention. The goal is to restore health to degraded marine and coastal ecosystems through community-led restoration. You will work alongside women, youth, fishers, community-based organisations and local leaders, reporting directly to the Project Coordinator.
This is an opportunity for anyone looking to work in the field, in a district with a coastal area and mangroves, and be part of an international initiative without leaving Mozambique.
This is a field-based role involving travel within the project implementation area. One day you will be at a community meeting; the next, you will be on the coast overseeing a restoration activity. You will interact with community leaders, district technicians, local associations, fishers and partner organisations. If you enjoy field work and engaging with people, you will fit right into the team.
Above all, we are looking for someone who values community work and is a good listener. Someone who respects local customs and dynamics, capable of communicating with a community leader, a young woman from a local association and a government technician — with equal respect and clarity.
We also need an organised individual: someone who meets deadlines, keeps documentation in order, identifies field issues and proposes practical solutions with initiative and good judgement. Teamwork, transparency and commitment to the community are core values for this role. If you are already involved in community activities in your area, this is your chance to take the next step.
Transparency note: the official announcement does not disclose the salary amount. Applications are submitted via email (see below), and ACRE will only contact candidates shortlisted for interviews.
