BESIX Group is recruiting a Plant Manager for a large-scale marine construction project in Mozambique. The position is based in Maputo and its mission is to ensure that all project equipment — from heavy machinery to support vessels — is available, safe, and cost-effective, ensuring construction work proceeds without downtime.
BESIX is part of the BESIX Group, one of the largest Belgian construction groups, with approximately 12,000 employees active across more than 25 countries. In Mozambique, the group is executing a large-scale marine construction project — which is where this role fits in.
You will be part of the functional team managing the project's plant (equipment). It is the key role connecting the construction site to procurement and logistics: without available and well-managed equipment, downtime increases costs and delays construction.
You will manage the operational lifecycle of the project equipment. Specifically:
We are looking for a hands-on field manager with practical experience in heavy equipment and maintenance, accustomed to large-scale construction environments. This is a functional leadership role: listening to site teams, suppliers, and safety officers, keeping equipment operational without cost overruns.
Someone who handles daily challenges calmly, makes sound decisions under pressure, and strictly follows safety regulations will fit right in. This is not a role for someone who avoids the field: it requires being close to machinery, suppliers, and project teams.
You will join a large-scale marine project working with specialized equipment — from cranes to support vessels — within an international construction group. It is a central role connecting site operations, maintenance, and procurement: ensuring equipment never becomes a bottleneck.
You will work closely with project teams, procurement, and logistics. On a marine project, equipment is the backbone of operations: when available and properly maintained, construction progresses smoothly; when it fails, the entire operation halts.
The job posting does not list salary, benefits, or working hours — these will be discussed during the interview. This is a full-time, on-site position integrated within one of the sector's largest construction groups.
