Palladium is a global business working to design and deliver positive impact in people's lives — with teams in over 90 countries and around 4,000 professionals in areas such as health, water, energy, infrastructure and agriculture. It is recruiting a Private Sector Engagement Specialist for the USAID/BHA — Market Approaches to Sustainable Livelihoods in Cabo Delgado Province project, based at the project office in Pemba.
The project's goal is simple to explain and huge in practice: helping displaced and returning families in Cabo Delgado end their reliance on food assistance and build lasting livelihoods — integrating them into productive value chains, such as cashew nuts, in partnership with private companies already operating in the province.
The project is designed for three years, running from October 2024 to September 2027, with the target of establishing at least six partnerships with the private sector.
This is a leadership role positioned between the corporate world and local communities. In practice, your work involves:
You will work in Pemba on a USAID-funded project, supported directly by the leadership team. Daily activities require ongoing dialogue with business owners, agricultural technicians and communities — alongside an understanding that relationships between businesses and vulnerable communities involve far more than commercial transactions: trust needs building, expectations managing and results demonstrating.
This is an international role: documentation and donor meetings usually take place in more than one language, and the team includes colleagues from various countries. Anyone in this role must feel comfortable operating in two distinct worlds — from the corporate boardroom to a conversation under the shade of a cashew tree.
We are looking for someone who enjoys bridging both worlds. Someone who understands what drives private enterprise to invest in Mozambique — risk, return, reputation — while maintaining a firm focus on transforming families' lives through more stable income, greater food security and increased dignity.
We want someone skilled at negotiating while maintaining strong relationships, comfortable speaking with business managers and community leaders alike, and possessing a vision to help companies see that including smallholder farmers makes good business sense — not just charity. Strategic patience is just as vital as seeing the bigger picture in this role: without a well-structured first agreement, none of the six partnerships will materialise.
Palladium is a global employer committed to equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion. Benefits vary depending on the role and country, but include competitive salaries, flexible working arrangements, paid parental leave and bonus schemes.
The project job posting does not state the salary range — if you would like to know more, you can inquire during the selection process. Details regarding the selection process are confirmed directly by Palladium's recruitment team.
Vacancies like this usually appear first in English on international channels and rarely reach Portuguese-speaking jobseekers. If you are outside the international development network, this opportunity could easily pass you by — along with many others in Cabo Delgado.
Inademy exists to prevent that. Create your free profile, keep your organised CV on file and receive free alerts for new job postings via email and WhatsApp — ensuring opportunities like this reach you in equipa, not after applications close.
Applications are submitted directly on the Palladium careers portal. The listing does not specify a closing date, but the vacancy has been confirmed as active — therefore, the deadline shown is an estimate: 15 September 2026. No application email address has been published — the official channel is the company portal.
