Application deadline until November 2, 2026; applications must be submitted via the pre-application form and by email to recruitment.moz@mentor-initiative.net. Remuneration is not indicated in the publication.
The MENTOR Initiative is an international humanitarian action organization working in Mozambique to improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and reduce disease risk. It operates in emergency and development contexts, in coordination with communities, district authorities, health facilities and sector partners. This position is part of the organization's field team.
You support the Project Manager in the daily implementation of project activities in Cabo Delgado. You organize and supervise the work of field teams in the districts assigned to you and work in collaboration with technical specialists to ensure the quality of WASH, vector control, and community-based prevention activities.
You ensure that activities are well documented, field data is collected and reported on time, and the Project Manager is kept informed of progress and field challenges.
You plan and organize activities according to operational plans and prepare weekly plans, ensuring that teams, materials, and means of transport are ready before the start of each activity.
You monitor the quality of WASH activities in the field — construction, distributions, and hygiene promotion sessions — under the technical guidance of the WASH Specialist and, along with other specialists, you supervise vector control and prevention activities, respecting protocols and technical standards.
You organize and support community mobilization and IEC/BCC activities, ensuring community participation. You identify problems and gaps in implementation, propose solutions to the Project Manager, and monitor the application of corrective measures. When necessary, you support needs assessments and new intervention areas.
You ensure that field data is collected, verified, and submitted on time, using agreed tools, in coordination with the monitoring and evaluation team. You conduct regular supervision and monitoring visits to activity sites.
You prepare weekly and monthly activity reports, highlighting progress, challenges, and lessons learned, and keep complete and well-archived activity records, attendance sheets, and distribution lists. You contribute field information to progress reports and proposals.
You supervise supervisors, community mobilizers, and other field staff under your responsibility, organizing their daily work. You identify training needs and support the training of field personnel and community volunteers, and contribute to performance evaluations. You ensure that the team respects the organization's Code of Conduct and safeguarding/PSEA policies.
You prepare and submit logistical requests on time (materials, inputs, and vehicles) and ensure that materials and equipment used in the field are handled, stored, and controlled properly. You comply with the organization's financial and administrative procedures for field expenses, including advances, per diems, and supporting documents, and support the organization of field activities, trainings, and meetings.
You strictly comply with security rules and procedures and ensure that the team does the same. You collect and share security information from the districts with the Project Manager and immediately report any incident.
You maintain regular communication within program teams and participate in planning meetings. You inform the Project Manager regularly, collaborating closely with technical specialists and monitoring and evaluation, logistics, and finance teams. You represent the organization in district-level meetings with authorities, health facilities, community leaders, and partners.
You share best practices across the organization and perform other tasks assigned to you by the Project Manager.
We are looking for someone with a degree in public health, social sciences, WASH, development studies, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in humanitarian or development projects in the field, preferably in WASH and public health.
Experience in supervising field teams and community-based activities, data collection and report writing, good computer skills, and fluency in Portuguese complete the profile; English is valued.
You fill out the pre-application form and also send an email to recruitment.moz@mentor-initiative.net. The email must contain the updated CV and cover letter, with the subject in the format NAME OF THE VACANCY YOU ARE APPLYING FOR | CANDIDATE NAME.
