What you will do

You will join the Internal Audit team and report to the Director of Internal Audit. Your role is to take ownership of field risks across your assigned country portfolio, preventing, detecting, and investigating situations that could divert funds intended for families.

Your tasks are divided across the following key areas:

• Systems-driven monitoring (45%): track internal audit metrics in your portfolio countries, correct deviations, maintain updated risk registers, and lead escalation protocols when risk of failure arises.
• Project design (25%): represent internal audit in designing new projects, set audit rates, review proposals, and analyze implementation tools, such as census surveys, to align detection, mitigation, and prevention.
• People management (10%): manage the country internal audit managers under your remit, handling everything from hiring to quarterly performance evaluations.
• Culture of prevention (10%): provide annual training to teams in each country on fraud prevention and safeguarding, acting as a visible role model for the code of conduct.
• Other responsibilities (10%): support the Director on the global internal audit strategy, including the application of technology and artificial intelligence in fraud prevention.

You will personally lead the most sensitive investigations in your portfolio. You will also conduct spot-checks in the field, ensuring at least one in-person field visit per year to each assigned country.

You will hold weekly meetings with Country Directors and build connections with local anti-fraud partners, such as mobile money operators. You will prepare quarterly productivity reports for global leadership.

Where and how you will work

You will work remotely from Maputo or Nampula. The position requires a daily overlap of at least three hours with the East Africa Time zone to follow regional operations live.
