INSO — International NGO Safety Organisation — exists for a simple mission: to help NGOs working in high-risk areas continue doing their work safely. Since 2011, it has supported more than 1,500 organisations across 26 countries every day through real-equipa incident monitoring, analytical reporting, safety data and mapping, crisis management support, and orientation and training sessions.
They are recruiting a Safety Advisor Assistant for Cabo Delgado — one vacancy, on an open-ended contract. This is a direct support role to the Safety Advisor: the person who helps turn scattered information into a clear picture of the region's security context.
You will work in a demanding region where security is essential for humanitarian work to take place. The context changes rapidly: you need to read signals, verify information, and clearly communicate what is happening on the ground. This is not an office-bound job — the work follows NGO activities across Cabo Delgado, and the role requires travel as often as the context demands.
It is a networked organisation with multicultural teams and partners. Day-to-day, information flows in more than one language — and English is a constant presence in reports and meetings.
We are looking for someone who thrives on context. Someone who finds meaning in spending their day organising field safety information and getting it to the right people. We want someone thorough — who values clear processes and well-kept records — and who communicates calmly: whether with an NGO coordinator, a coordination platform, or a driver who spotted something unusual on the road.
This role is for someone who already has solid field experience under their belt — someone who reads the context with open eyes, without needing anyone to explain what is going on. The full list of requirements is in the job specification section; here, what matters most is the human fit: how you interpret the context, treat people, and perform under pressure.
Job listings from organisations like INSO usually circulate through international, English-language channels, rarely reaching those searching for jobs in Portuguese. If you are outside the NGO circuit, this opportunity could easily pass you by — like so many others in Cabo Delgado.
