Vista Bank Mozambique, part of the Vista Group Holding group, is looking for someone to lead the Trade Finance team in Maputo. Whoever joins will lead the people who process the bank's letters of credit, guarantees, and international payments every day — the silent engine of Mozambican foreign trade.

This is a role for someone who already knows the sector inside out: you don't lead a Trade Finance team without mastering International Chamber of Commerce rules or having years of documentary operations experience in the banking sector. You report to the CSS Directorate and work side by side with the bank's commercial, corporate, and credit areas. Permanent contract, full-time.

What you will do day-to-day

• Lead the Trade Finance team: divide the workload, set daily priorities, and develop team members;
• Manage the complete cycle of documentary letters of credit — from structuring to settlement, in import and export operations;
• Manage the cycle of SBLCs (standby letters of credit) and remaining bank guarantees, from issuance to amendments;
• Process documentary collections and analyze international trade documents, resolving discrepancies before they turn into losses;
• Keep every operation compliant with ICC rules for each instrument — documentary credits (UCP 600 and ISBP 821), collections (URC 522), guarantees (URDG 758), and standby (ISP 98) — plus Incoterms and Bank of Mozambique foreign exchange regulations;
• Monitor international payments and SWIFT transfers, including transaction investigations;
• Keep Nostro and Vostro account reconciliations up to date and maintain relationships with correspondent banks;
• Comply with the Foreign Exchange Law and Bank of Mozambique notices, ensuring proper registration and document verification of foreign exchange operations;
• Prepare regulatory reports for the foreign exchange regime and foreign trade;
• Conduct banking compliance controls: AML/CFT and sanctions screening, identifying suspicious transactions and counterparties;
• Provide technical advice to corporate clients on the bank's Trade Finance solutions;
• Track SLAs, volumes, error rates, and complaints, and report team performance metrics.
