Senior Structural Engineer — McDermott (Maputo)

The Senior Structural Engineer role serves as the technical focal point for the structural discipline on site. You will lead the specialty at the construction site, share practical and conceptual knowledge, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with specifications, applicable standards, and consortium policies.

What you will do

In your day-to-day work on the LNG project, you will be responsible for the following field engineering tasks:

• Execute site design modifications in direct liaison with home office engineering, including drafting "redline" markups on "as-built" drawings.
• Provide technical support to Quality teams (QA/QC) in identifying, analyzing, and resolving non-conformities.
• Assist construction teams in interpreting drawings, technical specifications, and other engineering documents to ensure execution compliance.
• Coordinate with the home office to resolve technical issues that cannot be resolved directly on site.
• Manage field documentation for the structural discipline, ensuring the master copy is kept up to date, complete, and free of superseded guidelines.
• Review modifications to IFC documents with the home office and formally validate technical documentation submitted by subcontractors.
• Lead technical meetings at the project level, prepare meeting minutes, and ensure follow-up and completion of defined priorities.
• Track document delivery deadlines, monitor Over, Short, Revoked, and Damaged (OSRD) material records, and prepare monthly engineering reports.

Work context

You will work integrated within a multidisciplinary field team combining civil, structural, architectural/buildings, piping, electrical, instrumentation, automation, mechanical, and process professionals. The role requires clear communication skills, ability to conduct work meetings, and continuous coordination between the site and engineering offices.

This position provides direct exposure to IFC documentation, large-scale construction sites, and technical procedures of global energy engineering.
